 New York, USA, Aufzeichnungen hebräischer Waisenhäuser für Säuglinge, 1895-1927

Das hebräische Waisenhaus in New York wurde 1860 vom hebräischen Wohltätigkeitsverein (Hebrew Benevolent Society) gegründet, einer Gesellschaft, die sich bereits um jüdische Waisen kümmerte. Er wurde später mit dem Verband für jüdische Kinderversorgung (Jewish Child Care Association) zusammengeführt.

This database contains records of children admitted to or discharged from the New York Hebrew Infant Asylum, which was established in 1895. The database also contains city billing records and physician reports. Records may include the following information:

  • Name

  • Date of admission or discharge

  • Gender

  • Age and/or birth date

  • Birthplace

  • Names of parents

Please note that ages or birthdates may not be accurate. Some orphans returned to the orphanage several times and may be found in the records more than once.
