Utah, USA, Willenserklärungen zur Einbürgerung, 1878-1895

This database is an index to declarations of intention to become U.S. citizens created between 1878 and 1895 at the Fourth District Court in Utah. Declarations of intention are also known as First Papers. The completion of this set of papers is usually the first step taken to become a naturalized U.S. citizen. In general, the amount of information found on these forms varies from place and place and year to year. Nevertheless, these records are a good source of genealogical data. Information contained on these particular forms for Utah's Fourth District Court includes the individual's name, former sovereign, date, and witnesses. The index, which this database contains, provides the individual's name, date, and volume number in which the original record can be found.

This index was created and obtained from the Utah State Archives, which also holds microfilmed copies of the original declarations. At the Archives this set of records is referenced as Series # 85169. For more information about these declarations or to learn how to contact or visit the Archives, please visit their website (Utah State Archives and Records Services). When asking the Archives about these records, be sure to mention the series number.
